Obituary of Harold Playford
Harold Edward Playford of Owen Sound passed away peacefully at the Grey Bruce Health Services on Monday, September 6th, 2021 at the age of 87 years. Harold and his beloved wife Heather (nee Hurlbut, recently departed) were both born and raised in Owen Sound, spending their working years in the Ontario cities of Port Hope and Brockville before retiring back to their hometown and enjoying many lovely summers together at their trailer in Sauble Beach.Harold will be dearly missed by his son David, daughter-in-law Jodie and grandchildren James and Sarah, all of whom reside in Australia. He is survived by his sister Beatrice Hemstock (Russell) and predeceased by parents Jack and Maggie Playford (nee Hartford), as well as by brothers Clifford and Ronald Playford and sister Margaret McColloch, all of whom live/lived in Grey Bruce.
“Patches” will be fondly remembered for his loyalty and work ethic, having spent a long career as a Depot Manager with Texaco Canada (and its acquirer, Esso Imperial Oil), as well as for his generous nature, love of golf and wry sense of humour.
A private ceremony will be held to celebrate the lives of Harold and Heather on Saturday, October 23rd, 2021. Inurnment in Greenwood Cemetery.
