Obituary of Amelia "Amy" Fleer

It is with great sadness that our family wishes to announce the passing of Amelia Johanna de Wever - Fleer who passed away at Grey Bruce Health Services Meaford on Wednesday, August 25, 2021. Born in the Netherlands, on February 1, 1935. Amelia “Amy” was named after Amelia Earhart. Amelia immigrated to Canada in 1959. Amy will be remembered by her Dutch friends who helped her organize Holland Days in Stayner, Ontario and for her talented knitting and sewing. “Amy” spent many years at the Meaford Apple Harvest Craft Show and the Tara Craft show as a vendor. Amelia was the loving mother of Alan Fleer, grandmother of Brandy, Jordan, Lucas and Ian. Loving mother of John Fleer (Lisa), grandmother of Jesse and Stephanie. Loving mother of Ronald Fleer (Michelle), grandmother of Jake. Loving mother of Annemarie Fleer, grandmother of Dillon and Dustin. Dear sister of Aart de Wever (Barrie de Wever – Jansen) from the Netherlands. Amy will be missed by her cat “Sandy” and by many nieces and nephews, Maarten-Jan, Daan, Olivia, Marieke, Lukas and Julianne, Wouter (Jascha), Laurens and Rosalie from the Netherlands. Ann van Roosmalen and her daughter Anita from British Columbia and the van Roosmalen family in the Netherlands. Predeceased by her Father Alphons de Wever and Mother Marie Pohl - Koenhein (Henk Pohl) from the Netherlands.


They shall grow not old

As we that are left grow old:

Age shall not weary them,

Nor the years condemn.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning

We will remember them.


A private family service will be held at a later date.
