Dearly loved husband and best friend of the late Dorothy Whitney (nee Chebott) for 60 years. Loving father of Murray Whitney and his wife, Margaret, of Tara, Mavis Tolhurst and her husband, Dave, of Sauble Beach and Bonnie Coffin of Florida. Proud grandfather of Mikayla and Will. Dear brother-in-law of Vidal Chebott, of Allenford. Predeceased by his parents, Charles and Grace Whitney(nee McIver), his parents-in-law, Earl and Margaret Chebott and his brother-in-law, Roy Chebott.
Doug’s passions were farming, fishing, hockey, baseball, and animals. He always had a dog, and later on the farm, a horse or two. He loved to tell jokes and make everyone around him laugh. He was kind & patient with everyone he encountered, qualities that made him an outstanding coach of minor hockey for years. Doug’s fondest memories were his years playing senior hockey with the Durham Huskies, and standing on 3rd base for Cotten’s Taxi. Forever in the hearts of his family, keep your stick on the ice dad.
