Obituary of Roderick McEachnie

Passed away suddenly at his home on Saturday, March 14, 2020.  Born in Toronto on December 5, 1946, Roderick George McEachnie of Owen Sound was in his 74th year.

Beloved husband for 46 years of Suzanne (née Coombe) McEachnie.  Loving father of Alison McEachnie (Les McKean) of Owen Sound and Laura McEachnie (Mokless Hassan) of Owen Sound.  Cherished Poppa of Jack, Quentin, Layth and Zayneb.  Dear brother-in-law of Bruce and Susan Coombe of Simcoe.  Rod will also be missed by his nieces Judith and Wendy and their families, his cousins Elaine and George in Nova Scotia, and by his close friend Charlie McClure.  Predeceased by his mother Margaret (née Rosley) McEachnie, and by his father and stepmother Donald and Marion McEachnie.

Rod had a passion for teaching and was proud of his teaching days in Payne Bay, Quebec, Kassabonika Lake and Cape Crocker, Ontario.  For many years Rod was a valued teacher at Arran-Tara Elementary School.

At Rod’s request cremation has taken place.  Due to the unfortunate circumstances regarding COVID-19 a private service to celebrate Rod’s life was held on Wednesday, March 18, 2020.  Arrangements are entrusted to the Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, 250 – 14th Street West, Owen Sound N4K 3X8 (519-376-7492).

As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations to the Grey Bruce Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.  Online condolences can be forwarded by visiting Rod’s memorial at
