Rodger passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side, at Grey Bruce Health Services in Owen Sound, on Thursday, July 1, 2021.  Born on November 15, 1939, Rodger Kendall Tennant of Owen Sound, was in his 82nd year.  Rodger endured health problems throughout his life but persevered.  

Loving father of Krista Tennant and Michael Tennant (Jennifer Lake) of Owen Sound, and Grampa “T” to Ethan and Rebecca.  Dear uncle of Fraser Barratt of Tottenham.  Former husband of the late Peggy Lang.  Predeceased by his parents, John “Jack” and Violet Tennant (née Locking) and his sister, Jacqueline Barratt.

Rodger was born, raised and educated in Owen Sound.  He began his working career with Mac Kirk of the North Grey Region Conservation Authority.  Moving on to Russell Hipwell Engines, he became a cost estimator.  Rodger then joined RBW and its sales training group from which he graduated but found the Production Department more to his liking for the next 28 years.  During this time he became an Officer in the CAF with the rank of Captain and of the 35 years spent with the Air Cadets, 17 of those years were as Commanding Officer.  His hobbies included photography, gardening, camping and woodworking making toys to full size grandfather clocks.  He also became a Master Mason in the Masonic Lodge, a Royal Arch Mason (1st principle) and also a Templar.

Cremation is taking place and a celebration of life service will be held at the Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, 250 14th St. W., Owen Sound, 519-376-7492, on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Keith Sweeting officiating.  Interment to follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Owen Sound.  With COVID 19 restrictions guests must wear a mask, follow social distancing protocols and RSVP through the funeral home website or by calling the funeral home.  Friends that cannot attend are welcome to view the service via livestream on the funeral home website (woodfuneralhome.ca).
