Lois Irene Noxel (nee Spencer) of Kelso Villa Retirement Home, Owen Sound, formerly of Port Colborne, passed away on May 30, 2017 in her 84th year. Predeceased by her husband Donald Charles Noxel (1994). Beloved mother of Timothy Noxel of Markdale. Predeceased by her parents Warren and Irene Spencer and her brothers Jack and Bob Spencer. Born in Stratford, Ontario, Lois came to Port Colborne in 1949 when her father became manager of the Port Colborne Woolworth store. She accompanied for the Glee Club and the Triple Trio at Port Colborne High School. Lois also competed in many music festivals for piano solos and duos in Stratford and in Port Colborne. She studied with Harold Bradley of the Bradley School of Music, Niagara Falls, Ontario. She taught piano lessons at the Notre Dame Convent, Welland and in her own home for many years starting when she was 16 years of age, retiring in 1993. Lois obtained the Associate of the Royal Conservatory of Music (ARCT) in Piano Teaching at 19 years of age (1953). She was a past member of the Ontario Registered Music Teachers' Association (ORMTA) and the Port Colborne Music Club. A sincere thank you to the Kelso Villa staff for their friendship and dedication.
